Naukri is the story of Ratan Kumar Chaudhary (Kishore Kumar), who leaves his village and his family to obtain employment in Calcutta. Unsuccessful in getting a job he ends up in a tiny apartment full of other unemployed youths. He falls in love with Seema (Sheila Ramani). They plan to marry but Seema's father does not want her daughter to marry an unemployed youth. Will Ratan be able to find employment? Will he be able to marry his love Seema?
